Sponge Gold Nugget from the Round Mountain Mine

Sponge Gold Nugget from the Round Mountain Mine

 Sold out
Sponge gold nuggets are very rare and unique. It is called sponge gold because, yes, you guessed it, it looks and feels like a sponge. In reality it is composed of very fine crystalline gold crystals and wires. This one is very soft and even flexible, and looks kind of like gold steel wool, which I have never seen before. Extremely unique! How this formed in nature, I have no idea. To me it looks like a work of art done by God. A geological rarity for sure, and as such, makes a great addition to any gold nugget collection. It is 5/8" long and comes from the Round Mountain Mine in Nevada.
